Spring Equinox has arrived, and the Spring Ephemerals are showing up!
Spring Ephemerals are the local, native woodland plants that show up in the woods for a brief period of time, before the tree canopy fills in.
More details about the Spring Ephemerals Walk in the Woods
We’ll look for Blood Root, Bluebells, Mayflowers, Spring Beauties, Wild Leeks, Skunk Cabbage, Lady’s Slippers, Colt’s Foot, Common Blue Violet, Cut-leaved Toothwort (one of my favorites), Yellow Trout Lily, Wood Anemone and more.
What’s on your Spring Ephemeral bingo card?

This walk was conceived of as a way to take a break from the drumbeat of news, to honor the changes in many peoples lives in the DC area in the last year, and connect with nature during its Spring Season of change.
