
Periodically we will offer free events, paid classes and seminars geared toward health and natural wellness, as well as nature/ID walks and other various nature experiences.
These events will consist mainly of nature identification walks; public talks on Five-Element Acupuncture and how to stay in balance with the Seasons; Zero Balancing classes and workshops; classes on Medicinal Mushrooms; and classes on how to find and prepare certain herbs such as Mugwort for Moxabustion.

By developing a working knowledge of the life cycle of nature you’ll hone your own foraging skills into a state of productivity instead of relying on luck. Casual in form, these are a great time to ask questions to high level professionals.

Fruit Tree Pruning and Grafting: With Taylor Roman
This will be an excellent and entry level Fruit Tree Pruning and Fruit Tree Grafting class, led by Taylor Roman of Fox Haven Farms in Jefferson, MD. The harvests of fruit trees can be dramatically increased with proper pruning, so we will learn the basics on how to prune a fruit tree effectively. The health of the tree and overall asthetics of pruning will also be discussed We will also have a large handful of Pear and Persimmon scion wood available to practice grafting onto existing fruit trees, as well as root stock of fruit trees still in pots.
Class size is limited and held fully outdoors due to covid. Mandatory masks and social distancing will be maintained during the entirety of the class

Fungi Families & Mini-Hunt at Terra Farms and Fields (Pennsylvania)
Field guides for fungi can be overwhelming. This important foundational class is designed to help students at all levels understand families of mushrooms with the help of an expert mushroomer. You will need to bring your own chair for the first portion of class, but we will provide clipboards to write on. You’ll also take an interactive walk utilizing your knowledge of fungi to guess where they might be growing! We highly recommend taking notes in a designated “fungi notebook”.
